In order to re-energise their effective communication staff training course, Knowsley MBC commissioned us, in 2006, to develop a new format for part of the course which would give trainees a more real and authentic communication experience.

Through the use of case studies which depicted typical and every day communication concerns for Knowsley staff, we created 4 diverse characters with very different communication needs. The two day training course ends with an improvised role play where the trainees respond to the actor, in role, as if they were a client or service user and, by doing so, put to good use their vital communication training.

We’ve since delivered the course 4 times a year and Knowsley MBC have been so delighted with the service provided by Altru that we’ve become an integral part of their effective communication training.

“Altru really made our training session on communication come alive; even those terrified of role play felt the case studies they portrayed helped them gain a better insight into their work with clients and a deeper understanding of their needs.”
