In one of our largest projects to date, we worked with 13 primary schools across 8 weeks to deliver a project focusing on the environment and sustainability, with a particular focus on air pollution. In order to consolidate and celebrate it’s Beacon Status, Sefton Environmental Education Service commissioned us to create a performance for young people around air pollution. The exciting aspect of this project was that the children performed the play themselves, to an invited audience of peers and parents.

The children worked on the performance and on their drama skills for 8 weeks, either in a morning or afternoon slot, and created a play which told the story of air pollution – from cavemen days to the present day – looking at the history and offering solutions to our current air pollution problems.

The performance touches on wider environmental messages and also draws in the importance of sustainability through looking at ways in which we can reuse and recycle and, importantly, use less fuel through walking, burning less and using more energy efficient sources of fuel and heat.

“The confidence has visibly grown in the whole class and we have all benefited so much from this project. Thank you!”
Waterloo Primary
“Generated confidence, improved self esteem, developed listening skills and educated the children. The drama games were simple but effective and the eco messages were very clear. It’s also given me many ideas that I could apply to future lessons”
St Philips C of E Primary
“It gave the children ownership, choice, enjoyment and a chance for them all to shine.”
Ainsdale C of E

We have delivered projects in a similar format on money matters, trading standards, history topics, Irish history and issues around respect and we are always open to new ideas for ways in which children can learn through drama.
