Here you will find lots of information about us and the diverse range of work that we do using drama, creative arts and innovative facilitation.  Our aims are always to give young people, individuals, communities and organisations the opportunity to develop skills and understanding, think differently and achieve their social and creative potential. As a company we have a strong ethos of working with people to help them achieve their creative potential through drama. The company was born out of a desire to use drama as a tool for social and personal change, particularly with children and young people. We do this by providing high quality, sustainable drama performances and workshops for young people across the Northwest and, increasingly, the UK as a whole. In recent times we have developed a new strand to the work that we do, delivering health messages to adults on a variety of topics including cardio vascular disease, child health care, mental health and diabetes.

Our approach is always collaborative, working with organisations and schools to develop projects that achieve aims and objectives and actually make a difference. We are passionate about the work we do and this passion comes across in the planning and delivery of our work. We have a strong belief in the value of drama and creativity for people of all ages.

Altru Drama is led and managed by creative director Kate Gorst who has extensive experience of working with children and young people to deliver messages and educate. A qualified and experienced teacher, Kate has a strong awareness of both the National Curriculum and the issues and challenges facing young people. Her work with Altru has seen her develop and deliver projects with and for a variety of clients in diverse settings, from schools and youth clubs to health consultations and staff training.

In 2008 Altru were announced winner of the Morgan Foundation Entrepreneur Awards in the Best Business Providing Social and Economic Contribution to the region. Of Altru’s win, the Morgan Awards judging panel said “Kate’s passion for her work and commitment to social change wowed the judges in another very competitive category.”
